Objective. Name what each environment is for and what risk it contains.
Owner. Assign a team or person who can approve promotion and respond to failures.
Configuration. Record runtime version, dependencies, secrets, endpoints, regions, and connected providers.
Promotion criterion. Define the evidence required before moving forward: tests, health, review, or an explicit approval.
Rollback. State what can be restored, who can trigger it, and what evidence is preserved.
Runtime preparation checklist
- Confirm runtime versions and dependency ownership.
- Identify required secrets without pasting values into tickets.
- Verify endpoints, regions, and network boundaries.
- Define health and readiness signals with an owner.
- Confirm backup, restore, and rollback expectations.
- Connect observability for logs, metrics, and failure investigation.
Use the six checks to prepare a reviewable runtime without assuming that a request is already deployed. A checklist is complete when an owner can explain what happens during a normal release and during rollback.
Reading costs
- Identify the billable unit.
- Confirm the reporting period.
- Separate usage from the displayed amount.
- Check rate, currency, credits, and quantity assumptions.
- Mark billing connections as pending until verified.
Use these five checks before comparing plans or making a cost claim.
